Clutchbox vs Cua: getting AI agents signed in
Cua copies signed-in state into a desktop you host, one approved push at a time. Clutchbox keeps your agents’ browsers signed in by syncing from yours in the background, on our hosted computers or in browsers your own code runs.
Side by side
| Question | Clutchbox | Cua |
|---|---|---|
| How sign-ins get in | An extension in your own Chrome syncs the sites you choose. Nobody types a password into another service or exports cookies by hand. | Teleport pushes an app’s state, including the cookies of sites you pick, from your computer after you approve the push. |
| Keeping them current | In the background: the extension syncs when a sign-in changes, and each browser gets your latest sync when it opens. | One push per approval; nothing syncs afterward. Keyvault can type a saved password to sign in again. |
| Environment | Any browser your code runs, with Playwright, browser-use, Stagehand or CDP, or our persistent Linux desktop with Chrome, live view and takeover. | Full Linux, macOS or Windows desktops, on your own computer or your own cloud account. Cua no longer hosts computers. |
| How agents connect | Your code applies sign-ins with the open-source adapters, and hosted agents use a remote MCP server with OAuth: mouse and keyboard, Chrome over CDP, and shell commands. | A local MCP server for coding agents, and SDKs. |
| Claude and ChatGPT | A custom connector in Claude, a plugin in ChatGPT, and Claude Code and Codex. | Claude Code and Codex. No Claude connector or ChatGPT app is documented. |
| Free tier | Sync and 600 minutes of hosted computer time a month. Self-hosting is free. | Free locally. Remote access is free for 20 hours a month, Pro is $18 a month, and you pay your cloud provider for computers. |
| Open source | All of it, under Apache-2.0: the extension, the sync format, the adapters and the web app. | The driver and SDKs are MIT. Spaces, Teleport and Keyvault are source-available under FSL-1.1-MIT. |
| Bot detection and CAPTCHAs | Not offered. | None documented. |
Which should you use?
Choose Cua if you want to host the desktop yourself, need macOS or Windows, or need state from apps beyond the browser, like Slack or VS Code.
Choose Clutchbox if you want sign-ins that stay current without approving each push, in browsers your code runs or a hosted computer that agents in Claude and ChatGPT can use as well as coding agents.
Clutchbox runs on your real accounts, so sync only the sites a task needs. How we keep your sign-ins safe.
